Padova, 5 september 2017

ENGIE, a world energy player, and the University of Padova have signed a six-year contract for the management of energy services. This includes the implementation of an energy efficiency program and the rehabilitation of heating and energy plants in 184 buildings, for a total volume of over 1,500,000 cubic metres.

The rehabilitation of the thermal power plants, centralized temperature control systems and the regular maintenance of power equipment  will contribute to  save  25% on primary heating.

This contract with the University of Padova confirms ENGIE’s commitment in the Veneto region, following the contracts won with the Universities of Trieste, Udine, and “Ca’ Foscari” and IUAV in Venice

“The cooperation with the University of Padova, while being a confirmation of trust from a prestigious cultural institution, is also a virtuous example of partnership between a public institution and a private company, where energy efficiency, along with innovation, represent a concrete driver to energy transition. Undertaking actions finalized to the optimization of energy expense and the reduction of consumptions, means generating, together, public and social value”, said Olivier Jacquier, CEO of ENGIE Italia.

For the first time we have entrusted a global project to a single and well experienced partner like ENGIE, a choice that will permit a more efficient management, also thanks to the innovative technologies now available - said Giuseppe Olivi, architect and responsible manager for the property assets of the University of Padova – Among them is the GEOMAP system, a web application, designed by ENGIE, that will permit to track the entire property assets and plants of our University, through an information system, and to manage the programming and registration activities of maintenance, greatly facilitating the maintenance process".

The cooperation with the University of Padova adds a new reference to an extensive portfolio of services to the Italian universities. In Italy, ENGIE manages more than 300 energy installations for 18 universities: “IUAV” and “Ca’ Foscari” in Venice; the Universities in Trieste, Udine, Rome - “La Sapienza”, Ferrara, Milan, Florence, Perugia, Macerata, Teramo, Catania, Bari, Salento, Istituto Universitario Europeo in Florence and Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.
