Turin, February 19th 2020
A new state-of-the-art gas filling station inaugurated today located in the industrial headquarters of the CNH Industrial group, on Strada delle Cascinette, in the strategic area east of Turin, at the intersection of the transport network between the A4 motorway, the ring road and the A55.
The new filling station is developed on an area of over 5 thousand square meters and serves heavy vehicles in particular.
The station consists of 2 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and 4 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) dispensers, as well as some charging stations for electric vehicles powered by a photovoltaic system located on the roof.
Today the project is a reality, thus concretizing our commitment to contribute to the development of sustainable mobility and focusing on alternative fuels such as electricity and natural gas.
The enormous advantage of natural gas compared to diesel, LPG or traditional fuels is represented by the reduction of 95% of fine particles (PM), 90% of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as well as a significant reduction in emissions of CO2, which reaches 95% if biomethane is used.
Mobility alone represents 20% of global energy consumption, 24% of global CO2 emissions and 95% dependence on oil. Sustainable mobility is therefore a fundamental driver on the road to the zero carbon transition.
«In Northern Italy there is a very high level of CO2 emissions. We are talking about emissions that are produced 50% by private heating, 25% by industries and 25% by transport.
The development of a network of LNG refueling infrastructures allows to decrease the polluting effects for heavy transport. In addition to reducing the environmental impact, this solution also allows a reduction in noise pollution, as the vehicles powered by LNG show greater silence than those powered by diesel».
Matthieu Bonvoisin, director of ENGIE Italia's Infra Energy Business line
«The synergistic commitment put into place with ENGIE for the realization of this virtuous project perfectly represents IVECO's belief that a joint work carried out by the various players in the sector are decisive in the structured and rapid development of a truly sustainable alternative transport that today sees its maximum expression with the use of BioMetano».
