Palau, 12 October 2018
From Palau a concrete example of how to implement the Paris climate agreements. This is "Armonia", the pioneering project of ENGIE that will allow Palau, in the Pacific, to derive 45% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025.
The partnership with ENGIE EPS will allow the Republic of Palau to achieve its energy objectives more than five years earlier than expected. It is the world's largest micro-network, consisting of a 35 MW renewable energy solar system and 45 MWh of storage, combined with current diesel production to transform the Palau network into a smart, integrated system with more than 100 MW of installed power.
With the signing of this agreement, Palau will guarantee 30 years of clean energy at a competitive and fixed price that will allow the replacement of a large part of the current diesel generation. The project will drastically reduce CO2 emissions and will result in substantial savings in the energy bill.
